FRAGILE WORLD ON THE SPECTRUM
Stress, Anxiety, and Meltdowns
Helping Your Child Feel "Safe, Accepted, and Competent"
For children with autism the world can be confusing and overwhelming. Learn how their specific sensory, cognitive, social, and emotional deficits result in ongoing stress and anxiety. We will explore each of these areas and how they affect your child's daily level of stress. Learn specific ways to compensate and support your child; to lessen their distress. Learn about sensory diets, visual strategies, effective daily routines, calming meltdowns, teaching emotional regulation, using effective reinforcement procedures, and a host of other effective strategies.
This information will be given in a series of presentations, in an informal, discussion style format, allowing for sharing of information and experiences. Although these presentations will be centered around specific topics, they will be patterned by the needs and concerns of the participants involved. This series of presentations is designed for parents, family members and teachers who wish to increase their understanding, learn effective strategies, and share experiences in caring for children with autism.
FREE but RSVP required to Pat Spohn, 810 694-8034
