We are writing to make you aware of changes to our typical fundraising calendar, a large capital project that is in the works and to share with you new events/ways you can help support our organization. As you know, we are a 501(C)3 non-profit and do not receive any state or federal funding, so we are always grateful for any type of donation we receive to help us keep our center running and to help fund improvements.
For the past 12 years, our Annual Walk for Autism has been held in September. There will not be a September 2018 Walk this year and we have instead decided to align this big event with Autism Awareness Month and hold it at the end of April beginning in April 2019, date TBD. We also intend to offer 5K run during our walk to attract even more people to our event. We are excited to evolve this event! More details will be shared as they become available.
For those who have visited ASRC, you know our parking lot is in great need of being completely renovated. Our Board of Directors has agreed to make this a capital project to improve our infrastructure. There are several areas of buckling, cracking and areas that flood (posing potential flooding to our buildings) when we have significant rainfall, all of which would be addressed in this improvement plan. During the past few months, we have been collecting quotes from various contractors in the area with estimates around $75,000. We will work hard to make this necessary improvement happen and look forward to seeing the project completed.
So, how can YOU support ASRC with our capital improvement project and general operating budget in 2018? Consider the "Birdies For Charity" program!
The PGA TOUR Champions is bringing professional golf back to our community in September for The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren and with that comes contributions to charities like ASRC! Between now and September 30th, consider a donation to ASRC through The Ally Challenge charity program, "Birdies For Charity"! ASRC will receive 100% of donations made through this program and will also receive a 6% match from the "Birdies For Charity" program. This event is a great one to share on your social media accounts to get friends and family to support us as well! Just think...our email list is about 1,000 people. If every person who received this donated just $10 and solicited just ONE friend to also donate $10, that could mean $21,600 to put toward our operating budget and capital improvement project! Donations can be made easily online or by downloading this pledge form, completing it to your liking and mailing it in at the address listed.
As always, we are grateful for your support to improve our facilities, keep our programming costs low and maintain our operating budget. We look forward to continued improvements and programming to better serve you and yours living with autism.
