- Cheryll Ennest, President
Cheryll has been active with the ASGGC for several years, was elected it’s Treasurer in 2005, then elected President in 2006. She facilitated the strategic planning session that developed the groups’ vision and plan for an Adult Residential Community. She is a retired SVP of Commercial Lending at Citizens Bank with degrees in Accounting and Finance. She has worked as a strategic planning consultant for non-profit organizations and has served on the Boards and Finance Committees of the YWCA and the Fair Winds Girl Scout Council. She and her husband, Jack, have four grandchildren including John, age 10, diagnosed with autism and Tony, age 12, diagnosed with aspergers.- Kathy Johnson,Vice President
Kathy and her husband, Jim, have four teenage daughters, all on the spectrum. Kathy and Jim have been active members of ASGGC for several years, working on various activities and events, working for the Palace Grant Program, and advocating for Autism Insurance Reform. Kathy was elected to ASGGC’s Board of Directors as Secretary in 2007. Kathy and Jim have done much to increase autism awareness. They have been speakers at events, have been interviewed on abc12 news, and their family was featured in a two-part series in the Flint Jounal, “When Autism Wears Pink.” Kathy works full-time as a designer at General Motor’s Technical Center in Warren, leading a team of Designers developing future cars and trucks for production. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University. Her Goals for the Group: To continue to serve as Secretary and perform all required duties, to continue to support area children with autism, to work towards the Residential Community Project and to continue to be a champion for all our kids.- Wendy Spiot, Treasurer
- Amy Daleo, Secretary
Amy has been a resident of Grand Blanc for nine years and has 2 children on the spectrum: Austin, age 14, and Andrew, age 8, both diagnosed with aspergers. Amy operates a home-based business selling handmade bath and body products. She owns a website and sells items on ebay. Amy created a fund-raising tool for ASGGC to sell donated items on ebay. Amy coordinates the monthly Asperger Teen nights and has been actively involved with ASGGC for several years.- Kathy Czykyski, Director
Kathy and her husband, Bill, are grandparents to Rileigh, who is three years old and diagnosed with autism. Although relatively new to the group, they feel like they have been part of it for years. They are involved in every aspect, including working for the Palace Grant Program, planning and implementing fundraisers, coordinating the monthly child activities, coordinating the VG’s fundraiser, and attending our Educational Programs. Kathy has served on our Board as a Director for the past year. Bill and Kathy have a catering business and donated their talents to several of our events including taking responsibility for all the food at our 2008 Autism Walk and Festival and our 2007 Annual meeting- Mark Deschaine, Director
Mark is a Teacher Consultant for Students with ASD in the Genesee Intermediate School District. He has over 20 years of experience in working with children with autism and cognitive impairments, including working directly with children with autism and cognitive impairments as a Teacher, and in a Supervisory capacity as Principal of Elmer Knopf Learning Center for five years and as Principal and Assistant Director of the Millet Learning Center in Saginaw for four years. He is a Doctor of Philosophy candidate (all but Dissertation Status) at University of Toledo, Master of Education (M.Ed.) Oakland University, Bachelor of Science in Special Education from CMU.- Jack Ennest, Director
Jack has worked in Banking and Finance his entire career. Before retiring from Banking, he served in various positions with Citizens Banking Corporation including Vice Chairman, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, and President of Citizens Bank in Flint. He has served on numerous community Boards throughout his career. He presently serves as Chairman of the Board for Mott Children’s Health Center and as Audit Committee member for Genesys Health Systems. His undergraduate degree in Business and Finance is from the University of Detroit and his MBA is from Michigan State University. Jack has been actively involved with ASGGC for several years.- Meredith Mihailoff, Director
Meredith and her husband, Michael, married for 12 years, have a seven year old son diagnosed with autism. She has been a member of ASGGC for several years and has served this past year as a Board Member and Treasurer. Meredith coordinates our Kroger Cares Fundraising Program as well as our Diaper Program. She is actively involved in our Palace Grant Program, working at the Palace at night to help with therapy expense for their son, Ethan.- Diane Miller, Director
Diane and her husband, Bob, have been active members of ASGGC since the group first started. Diane was elected as a Board Member when the group first organized as a 501c3 and has continued to serve on the Board since that time. They have actively participated in every ASGGC activity, event, meeting, and fundraiser. Their grandson, Vincent, is 10 years old and diagnosed with autism. They have been actively involved in Vincent’s education and activities, including helping with Special Olympics and school events.- Bill Nason, Director
Bill is a limited license psychologist and autism specialist with over 25 years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and severe behavioral challenges. He heads the sensory and behavioral therapy team at Genesee County Community Mental Health. He has been actively involved with ASGGC for the past year, including serving on the Board of Directors, attending events and activities, and providing educational seminars for our families. He has provided invaluable guidance and support to many of our families. Bill was named ‘Autism Angel of the Year’ at our 2008 Autism Walk- Pat Spohn, Director
Pat is one of ASGGC’s founding members. She has served in various capacities on the Board, including Director, Treasurer, and in her present capacity, as Vice President. Pat and her husband, Tim, have been involved in or spearheaded most of our activities and events. Pat coordinates our Palace Grant Program, has coordinated two Raffle fundraisers, started our childcare program, among many other accomplishments. Pat and Tim are the adoptive grandparents of Robert, who is twelve years old and diagnosed with autism. Pat owned and operated her own craft business for many years, before retiring to become a full-time caregiver to Robert- Tanja Scalf, Past President
Tanja is the founding organizer of ASGGC. She started the group by bringing together parents and caregivers of children with autism with the common goal of helping and supporting one another and sharing information. She served as President from the Group’s startup through October 2006. She continues to serve on the Board as Past President and Chairperson. Tanja created our online message boards and with her husband, Chris, created our website. Tanja continues to manage our website. Tanja and Chris have three children, including Sarah who is nine years old and diagnosed with autism. Tanja’s degrees are in early elementary education.
